EU Council approves proposal to postpone latest CLP amendment

The European Commission’s “stop the clock” proposal – aimed at simplifying and delaying certain company obligations in order to strengthen competitiveness in the chemicals sector – was approved on 24 September by the Council’s Member State representatives.

The measure postpones the application date of the latest amendment to the CLP Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2024/2865) to 1 January 2028, and also extends several related compliance deadlines.

Following the Council’s green light, only the European Parliament’s approval is still required to make the postponement official. We will keep you informed of further developments.
