Biocidal active substances: approval of Silver Zinc Zeolite

On 3^rd October 2024, the Commission implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2635 approving silver zinc zeolite as an active substance for use in PT2 (Disinfectants and algaecides not intended for direct application to humans or animals), 7 (Film preservatives) and 9 (Fibre, leather, rubber and polymerised materials preservatives) biocidal products in accordance with Regulation (EU) No 528/2012 was published in the Official Journal of the European Union.

The date of approval will be 1^st March 2026, with expiry date on 29^th February 2036.

The annex to the regulation lists some characteristics of silver zinc zeolite (CAS: 130328-20-0), such as the minimum degree of purity of the evaluated active substance and the specific conditions to which the authorisation of biocidal products containing this active substance and the placing on the market of treated articles are subject.
