The European Commission is planning to propose a REACH restriction on carcinogenic, mutagenic and reprotoxic (CMR) substances in childcare articles, in order to protect the safety and health of children.
ECHA, following the objectives and scopes laid out in the “ECHA Programming Document(s) 2023 – 2026”, has supported the Commission by preparing a call for evidence, that was closed on March 31st, 2023, asking interested parties to send information on the potential presence of CMRs (categories 1A or 1B) in articles intended for children. The final report on the collected data will be published in September 2023.
