EFSA has collected data on co-formulants in representative plant protection products (PPPs) from active substance approval or renewal dossiers for which a peer review output was issued between between January 2019 and March 2022. 182 co-formulants were identified, most of these with complete information on physicochemical properties required by Regulation (EU) 284/2013. About 53% of the co-formulants are registered under REACH, with 80% of them registered for more than 1000 tons per year.
Out of the the 182 co-formulants, 8 meet at least one of the unacceptability criteria set out in Regulation (EU) 574/2023. EFSA informed the European Commission about these co-formulants and wheter they were already listed in Annex III to Regulation (EC) No. 1107/2009 or not. The report’s observations can help risk assessors and risk managers in member states to standardize the assessment of co-formulants in cooperation with European agencies (EFSA, ECHA).
