During its November meeting, the Biocidal Product Committee (BPC) adopted 6 opinions on active substances and 4 on Union authorisations.
Opinions on active substances:
- renewal of Epsilon-Metofluthrin for PT18 (Insecticides, acaricides and products to control other arthropods);
- approval of 2,2-dibromo-2-cyanoacetamide (DBNPA) for PT11 (Preservatives for liquid-cooling and processing systems);
- approval of 2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one (MIT) for PT6 (Preservatives for products during storage);
- approval of 2-methyl-2,3-dihydro-1,2-thiazol-3-one hydrochloride (MIT HCl) for PT6;
- approval of Peracetic acid generated from 1,3-diacetyloxypropan-2-yl acetate and hydrogen peroxide for PT2 (Disinfectants and algaecides not intended for direct application to humans or animals);
- non-approval of Epsilon-Metofluthrin for PT19 (Repellents and attractants).
Opinions on Union authorisations for:
- authorisation of a biocidal product family containing Propan-1-ol/Propan-2-ol for PT1 (human hygiene), 2, 4 (food and feed area);
- authorisation of a biocidal product family containing Propan-2-ol for PT1 (two opinions);
- non authorisation of a major change to a Union authorisation of a biocidal product family containing Active chlorine released from sodium hypochlorite for PT2.
The European Commission together with the EU Member States will take the final decisions that will be available on ECHA’s website in the near future. The next meeting will take place in February 2025.
