On 27 June 2024, the REACH Candidate List was updated with the inclusion of a new substance: BIS(α, α-DIMETHYLBENZYL) PEROXIDE (CAS 80-43-3, EC 201-279-3), also known as dicumyl peroxide (DCP) or under the trade names PEROXAN DC and Perkadox BC-FF. This peroxide is commonly used as a flame retardant, cross-linking agent for rubber and plastics, and as a polymerisation initiator for materials such as polystyrene. The electronics, semiconductor, rubber and plastics industries, as well as the automotive and aeronautics sectors, are the main entities involved.
Every time a new substance in included on the Candidate List companies are obliged to comply to various duties, as such as SCIP notification, notification to ECHA under Art. 7(2) of REACH, updating the communication ex. Art. 33 of REACH, the updating of Safety Data Sheets and the revision of the technical report on emissions according to Art. 271 c. 7-bis D.Lgs. 152/06. Make sure you update your business practices to remain compliant with the new regulations.
