The Council of the European Union has approved Regulation (UE) 2019/1009 as regards the digital labelling of EU fertilising products, promoting a strategy for costs and bureaucracy reduction, while maintaining physical labels where necessary. Digital labels will last for at least 10 years and provide easier access to more detailed information.
Key changes:
- cost reduction for producers and SMEs;
- improved readability and easier updating of information;
- physical labels required to protect vulnerable consumers.
The regulation will take effect three days after its publication in the Official Journal of the EU.
