In 2023, the REF-11 project was carried out to assess the compliance of safety data sheets (SDS) with the new requirements introduced by Regulation (EU) 2020/878. Key changes included mandatory information on nanoforms, endocrine-disrupting properties, and other relevant data, such as acute toxicity (ATE), specific concentration limits (SCL), and environmental multiplication factors (M-factor).
Out of the 2,528 SDS examined, the non-compliance rate was 35%, showing an improvement compared to previous projects. However, some information was found to be missing during the review, particularly in sections related to nanoforms and endocrine disrupting properties.
The project highlighted the importance of constantly updating the information contained in safety data sheets to ensure the protection of the environment and human health.
