From 29 November 2024, the use of lead in PVC products will be prohibited if present in concentrations equal to or greater than 0.1% by weight. Some applications, such as recycled PVC, will have longer transition periods.
This regulation also restricts the use of lead in imported and recycled products, reinforcing the voluntary ban already adopted by the EU industry.
Lead is toxic to human health, particularly for children, and harmful to aquatic life.
For more information regarding lead and its compounds in PVC, you can refer to Regulation (EU) 2023/293.
