On 16 January ECHA has added four new substances to the Candidate List (SVHC).
SUBSTANCES INCLUDED TO CANDIDATE LIST (SVHC)
More specifically, have been included:
Substance | Reason for inclusion | Examples of use(s) |
Diisohexyl phthalate (CAS 71850-09-4 EC 276-090-2) | Toxic for reproduction | Not registered under REACH. |
2-benzyl-2-dimethylamino-4′-morpholinobutyrophenone (CAS 119313-12-1 EC 404-360-3) | Toxic for reproduction | The substance is used in polymer production |
2-methyl-1-(4-methylthiophenyl)-2-morpholinopropan-1-one (CAS 71868-10-5 EC 400-600-6) | Toxic for reproduction | The substance is used in polymer production |
Perfluorobutane sulfonic acid (PFBS) and its salts | Equivalent level of concern having probable serious effects to the environment and human health | Used as a catalyst/ additive/reactant in polymer manufacture and in chemical synthesis. It is also used as a flame retardant in polycarbonate (for electronic equipment). |
CONSEQUENCES
The addition of these substances to the Candidate List requires, from the subjects concerned, a constant monitoring of the regulatory situation as they could be included among the substances subject to Authorization (Annex XIV REACH).
Below are briefly summarized further fulfilments related to SVHC substances:
- Supply of safety data sheets (according to Art. 31 (1))
- For certain mixtures, supply of SDS on request (according to Art. 31 (3))
- Duty to communicate information on substances in articles (according Art. 33)
- Notification of substance in articles (secondo Art. 7 (2))
