On 16 January ECHA has added four new substances to the Candidate List (SVHC).

SUBSTANCES INCLUDED TO CANDIDATE LIST (SVHC)

More specifically, have been included:

SubstanceReason for inclusionExamples of use(s)
Diisohexyl phthalate (CAS 71850-09-4 EC 276-090-2)Toxic for reproductionNot registered under REACH.
2-benzyl-2-dimethylamino-4′-morpholinobutyrophenone (CAS 119313-12-1 EC 404-360-3)Toxic for reproductionThe substance is used in polymer production
2-methyl-1-(4-methylthiophenyl)-2-morpholinopropan-1-one (CAS 71868-10-5 EC 400-600-6)Toxic for reproductionThe substance is used in polymer production
Perfluorobutane sulfonic acid (PFBS) and its saltsEquivalent level of concern having probable serious effects to the environment and human healthUsed as a catalyst/ additive/reactant in polymer manufacture and in chemical synthesis. It is also used as a flame retardant in polycarbonate (for electronic equipment).

CONSEQUENCES

The addition of these substances to the Candidate List requires, from the subjects concerned, a constant monitoring of the regulatory situation as they could be included among the substances subject to Authorization (Annex XIV REACH).

Below are briefly summarized further fulfilments related to SVHC substances:

  • Supply of safety data sheets (according to Art. 31 (1))
  • For certain mixtures, supply of SDS on request (according to Art. 31 (3))
