The Court of Justice of the European Union confirmed, on August 1, 2025, the General Court’s judgment annulling the harmonized classification of titanium dioxide (INDEX 022-006-00-2) in powder containing ≥ 1% of particles with an aerodynamic diameter ≤ 10 μm as Carc. 2 by inhalation.
The decision is effective from August 1, 2025; therefore, pending the amendment to Annex VI of the CLP, it is already possible to update the Safety Data Sheets and the corresponding product labels.
ECHA has removed the harmonized classification from the C&L inventory and the registry of intentions and has deleted the guidance on the classification and labeling of titanium dioxide.
