Starting from January 1, 2021, labelling with the UFI code (Unique Formula Identifier) becomes mandatory. This is a 16-character code that uniquely identifies mixtures classified under the CLP Regulation. With the deadline approaching, it is important to clarify several key points:

  1. The UFI code is required only for classified mixtures.
  2. The UFI code alone is not sufficient. To use the UFI code, the mixture must also be notified to ECHA via the REACH-IT portal.
  3. Notifying a mixture to ECHA does not automatically authorize its sale in all EU Member States. When submitting the notification, you must specify the country where the product will be sold and provide information in the required language. Some Member States, including Italy, require the payment of a fee.
  4. Notifications made through the ISS (Istituto Superiore di Sanità) hazardous mixtures portal will remain valid until January 1, 2025. This means that until that date, the UFI code is not mandatory, provided that the product is sold exclusively in the Italian market and no updates of any kind are needed.

The topic is complex. The TEAM mastery staff will be happy to answer your questions and support you in ensuring compliance with this new CLP update.
