The UNECE (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe) published on 12 September the 11th edition of the GHS – the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals.

The amendments to the 10th revised edition of the GHS were adopted by the Committee of Experts during the session held in Geneva on 6 December 2024, and concern:

  • aerosols and chemicals under pressure (Chapter 2.3)
  • skin sensitization (Chapter 3.4)
  • hazardous substances and mixtures contributing to global warming (Chapter 4.2)
  • further rationalization of precautionary statements to improve user comprehension while taking into account practical considerations for labelling practitioners
  • guidance on the identification of simple asphyxiants (new section in Annex 11)
