On May 31, 2022, the Colombian Ministry of Commerce (MINCIT) announced the launch of the online system to register chemicals to the new National Registry of Industrial Chemical Substances (Registro Nacional de Sustancias Químicas de Uso Industrial (RSQUI)).
On November 30, 2021, the Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development published Decree 1630/2021, regarding the comprehensive management of chemicals for industrial use, including risk management. The Decree establishes that companies manufacturing or importing industrial chemical substances categorized as hazardous in volumes exceeding 100 kilograms per year are required to report through the new portal. Under the Decree, exemptions are taken into account, and include substances of natural origin that are not chemically processed, chemical substances that are already regulated by other statutes, articles, by-products that have not been imported or traded as such, polymers, and non-isolated intermediates. Manufacturers and importers have the deadline of May 30, 2025, to report the required information.
