UPDATES ON THE NEW FERTILISER REGULATION: LABELLING GUIDELINES
Although very slowly, the regulatory framework that will affect the fertiliser sector starting from next June is beginning to take shape.
The COMMISSION has in fact published a Communication “on the appearance of the labelling of EU fertilising products referred to in Annex III of Regulation (EU) 2019/1009 of the European Parliament and of the Council” in the various EU languages.
The document, also available in Italian, is not legally binding but aims to provide useful guidance to stakeholders, including manufacturers and market surveillance authorities. It offers clarifications on the implementation of labelling requirements and includes some (purely illustrative) examples of labels for the different PFCs of EU fertilising products.
The various players in the supply chain (manufacturers, notified bodies, laboratories, CROs, and consultants) are still awaiting the regulatory updates necessary to best organise their work and be ready to operate as soon as the Regulation comes into force (June 2022).
