The European Commission has launched a survey to assess the impact of the EU hygiene requirements applicable to materials and products in contact with drinking water on products currently on the market.
The new EU hygiene requirements, established under Article 11 of the Drinking Water Directive (EU) 2020/2184, will enter into application on 31 December 2026.
In this context, the European Commission, in close consultation with ECHA, is carrying out a prioritisation exercise for substances to be considered for the first update of the European Positive List (EUPL) established under Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2024/367.
The survey aims to gather quantitative information on the scale of products that will need to comply with the EU requirements in 2027 and are made of one or more substances, compositions or constituents that are not included in the first EUPL.
Companies and organisations are invited to provide consolidated or company-level information. Where precise figures are not available, approximate estimates are also welcome, provided that this is clearly indicated.
