The Czech Republic has announced that, starting from 18 February 2026, it will end the placing on the market of creosote-treated utility poles used for electricity and telecommunications. The country has requested to be removed from the list of Member States where such placing on the market is still permitted. However, a mandatory transition period of 180 days applies: until 17 August 2026, it will still be possible to place creosote-treated utility poles on the Czech market, giving companies time to adapt to the new requirements.
