Next Friday, 28 June, in Bologna, the meeting “New EU Regulation 2019/XXX on Fertilisers: what we can do for you” will take place, organized by Silc Fertilizzanti and Phyto mastery.
THE NEW EUROPEAN FERTILISER REGULATION
The new Regulation significantly broadens the scope of fertilisers covered, opening the doors of Europe to the free circulation of many products that previously could not bear the CE Marking, such as organic fertilisers, organo-mineral fertilisers, and biostimulants, which have gained increasing importance among farmers in recent years.
Within three years, EU fertiliser regulations will be based on entirely different principles. Immediate checks will be necessary to identify any corrective actions to be implemented quickly. This regulation will be developed over time, supported by delegated acts and numerous technical documents. The meeting will highlight some critical issues to help address them.
It is still too early to focus on labelling rules, but it is important to become familiar with new concepts such as the certificate of conformity, the definition of new evaluation parameters, a different approach to studying new fertilisers. In some cases, investments will be required, which must also be planned and managed so as not to hinder the company’s Research & Development activities.
This initial meeting aims to “warm up the engines” to assess the level of involvement of each operator: the impact will not be the same for everyone.
The programme includes a talk by the director of Silc Fertilizzanti Srl, Mariano Alessio Vernì, titled “Who is involved. What needs to be done. How to manage critical issues. When it applies”.
Next, our colleague Roberta Porta, head of the Agro division of Phyto mastery Srl, will present “What’s new in the conformity assessment procedures”, followed by Luciano Cavani, researcher at the Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences of the University of Bologna, who will illustrate “Lights and shadows in the characterisation of the new families of fertilisers”.
Then Francisca Stuppello, Business Development Manager at Innova Finance Srl, will speak on “Funding for companies: what is available and how to access it”, followed by a question time session.
The organisers invite attendees to bring the Ateco code of their company to fill in a questionnaire that will be distributed during the meeting. The analysis of this data will help the organisers better understand how to assist participants.
