Regulation (EU) 2022/477 of March 24, 2022, which amends Annexes VI to X of the Regulation (REACH), has entered into force on April 14. However, REACH actors will have six months from the entry into force of the amendments to comply with them.
The measures amend the contents of the above-mentioned annexes, which set standard information requirements for substances manufactured or imported above 1, 10, 100 and 1000 t/year, in order to align the terminology with the CLP Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 and provide clearer instructions regarding, in particular, mutagenicity, aquatic, reproductive or developmental toxicity, as well as ecotoxicological information.
In addition, the regulation sets out important changes, related to Annex VI, regarding general registrant information and substance identification data requirements.
Notably among these is the introduction of a requirement for exclusive representatives to provide details about the non-EU manufacturer they represent. ECHA has already taken action by automatically requesting this information via REACH-IT.
ECHA is currently in the process of updating its guidelines as well, which will be available in the second half of 2022.
