SCIP is the database for information on Substances of Concern In articles as such or in complex objects (Products) established under the Waste Framework Directive (WFD).
If you are an EU producer and importer, an assembler or a distributor, you have an obligation to submit a SCIP notification to ECHA if the articles you place on the EU market contain substances of very high concern (SVHCs) in concentrations above 0.1 % weight by weight. From 05 January 2021 and onwards you have a legal obligation to notify. You can find the list of SVHC here.
Companies will be able to submit data already in late 2020 (planned end October 2020) when the final database is launched. The aim is to promote the substitution of hazardous chemicals and transition towards a safer circular economy.
